The Limestone Coast vineyards are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot. The region, known for producing reds of outstanding quality is rich with the famous "Terra Rossa" soil, which overlays a hard layer of limestone. Cabernet Sauvignon is a star performer on the Limestone Coast - producing Black Opal wines with a distinctive blackcurrant and cassis aroma.
Langhorne Creek is another famous region for red wines. Southeast of Adelaide, the region boasts Cabernet and Shiraz with characteristic "chocolate mint" aromas and an incredible richness in flavor.
The Barossa Valley is one of Australia's oldest and most famous wine-producing areas. Established in the 1840s, it has built a reputation for producing powerful Shiraz based wines and full flavored Chardonnay.
